INTERNSHIP
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
The program is divided into three main parts: Ministry, Classes, and Mentorship. Each of these serves their own purpose in developing your individual faith and life in ministry through both educational and experiential/hands-on learning.
In ministry, you will have the opportunity to learn through direct involvement with a ministry you’re passionate in. In educational learning, you will have an opportunity to grow your knowledge of the Bible, leadership, and overall life skills through classes taught by Pastor Chris Hilken. Lastly, with an emphasis on personal connection, you will have the opportunity to connect with the Internship Director weekly and will be further encouraged to seek out mentorship from a College Ave Church mentor who can help guide you through life in ministry here at College Ave. A full description of the program in its entirety is provided here. HOW LONG IS THE INTERNSHIP?
This internship is a year-long program from June 2025 – May 2026. The next class will be from June 2026 – May 2027. The typical weekly model will include days off on Friday and Saturday, along with time off provided for select holidays.
WHAT IS THE HOUSING LIKE?
College Ave has recently renovated intern housing to ensure everyone is not only accommodated, but supported by the space to pursue community, fellowship, and intentional learning with one another. The housing space is dorm-style with bedrooms upstairs and includes a kitchen, a living-room area, a study space, and a classroom.
What Makes CAIP Different From Other Similar Programs?
It is not necessarily any individual aspect of our program, but rather, the culmination of high quality elements included in our program that make it so unique. It starts with our classes taught by Lead Pastor, Chris Hilken, that will not only further your knowledge, but simultaneously equip you to defend the very beliefs that are core to any Christ follower. These classes are hosted in our intern housing unit that allows our interns to live in the heart of San Diego with a rich community of fellow believers. Interns have the unique opportunity to take the head knowledge they gain in the classroom and live it out in service of the local church. We understand the commitment it takes to serve as an intern for a year at College Ave and we want to remain committed to ensuring the ministry experience you’re receiving here has genuine application to your life in ministry whether vocationally or personally. This is a program that will challenge you, but our desire is that of Christ; that we would not leave you as we find you.
